Boeing's Business Jet or BBJ was developed as a joint venture by Boeing and General Electric in 1996 to develop and market a corporate version and combination of Boeing's 737–700 and 800 airliners. It remains one of the prime used aircraft for sale on the market. The first BBJ jet for sale was created from the 737-700's airframe in 1999. A new strengthened wing was added along with the 737-800's heavy landing gear to create the new craft. Two CFM International CFM57-7 turbofans produce a cruising speed of Mach .82. Three to ten belly auxiliary fuel tanks were added to provide a range of 6200 nautical miles. The Boeing BBJ also features the Next Generation 737 two crew six LCD screen EFIS avionics flight deck with embedded dual GPS-TCAS, enhanced GPWS, and a Flight Dynamics head-up guidance system. Production includes unfurnished or "green" BBJ airframes supplied to DeCrane of Georgetown, Delaware, for long range fuel tank installation. From there each BBJ is flown to a specified completion center of the customer's choice for interior fit-out and exterior painting. In 2001, the BBJ was given 19 ft. 2 in. of length to become the BBJ2. This increased length equates to 25% more cabin space and 100% more baggage space. Among aircraft sales, the used Boeing BBJ for sale ranks high on the list of wanted aircraft sought by selected brokers nationally and internationally.
