The Cessna 172 Skyhawk was born in 1956 and still remains in production today as a prime aircraft for sale. A single engine, four-seat, high-wing airplane, its many features keep it one of the most popular aircraft sales planes to ever be mass produced.
Early 172 versions were very similar to the original 170, but a lower rear deck and an aft window, Omni-Vision, was added. In the '60s, the sweptback tail still used was introduced, and since that final addition the design has not been changed.
In its first production year over 1,400 were built, and production then stayed steady. Although halted in the 1980s, manufacturing resumed in 1996.
This plane is classed as one of the most successful airplanes ever made. The new and used Cessna Skyhawk for sale is touted as the globe's most popular flight training craft.
