Gulfstream Aerospace designed its latest Gulfstream model to compete with aircraft sales directly on ultra-long-range intercontinental flights with Bombardier's Global Express, Boeing's Business Jet and Airbus's A319CJ. Gulfstream V hit the market in 1997, immediately setting 36 world class times to climb and altitude records. Its new Gulfstream V is 8 ft. 2 in. longer than the previous G-IV. It features a luxurious design with the ability to seat 19, a full bathroom, business work station with Satcom, computer and fax dining/conference area with seating for four, a three seat couch that converts into a bed, and five more reclining seats. The G-V's flight deck is composed of a six screen Honeywell EFIS avionics suite.
