The Piper Meridian is the first major aircraft produced from the New Piper Aircraft. The Meridian is a six seater, pressurized, high performance turboprop that is produced from the Malibu Mirage, or as some say, also known as being a single prop version of the Piper Cheyenne.
Piper Meridian's development was announced at the 1997 NBAA convention. The Meridian was first produced at Piper's facility in Vero Beach, FL. Certification was completed in September of 2000, with delivery a month later.
The Piper Meridian's main aircraft for sale feature is its Pratt & Whitney turboprops. These allow it to maintain maximum power up to its service ceiling of 30,000 ft.
Many features of the Meridian resemble the Malibu Mirage. Main differences are the stainless steel firewall, increased area on the horizontal tail and rudder, larger fuel tanks, and chord lengthening wing root gloves which result in a low stall speed, all important points in aircraft sales.
Now, the Meridian also incorporates a completely glass panel coupled with S-TEC autopilots.
