The Robinson R44 is a small, light, four-person helicopter designed in the 1970's by Frank Robinson and still in production today by the Robinson Helicopter Company. First version was produced as the R22. Reasonably soon after this, it was followed by the R22 HP, R22 Alpha, R22 Beta and R22 Beta II. From the outside looking in, the machines look very similar because few changes were actually made to the design. The R44 was Robinson's next venture and into the four-seater market.
