In 1974, Chris Heintz decided to form an aircraft company to create kits for the aircraft sales industry. Under the name of Zenair Ltd., Heintz began manufacturing Zenith kits from his small home garage. Since then, Heintz has delivered more than twelve different kit aircraft designs. In 1992, Heintz licensed his manufacturing kits and the rights to Zenith Aircraft Company for the STOL CH 701 and then developed the new STOL CH 801 and Zodiac XL for Zenith Aircraft Company. In the middle of the 1990's, Chris Heintz's Zenair Ltd. obtained certification from the FAA for the Zenith CH 2000. This aircraft is a low-wing, two-place aircraft based on some of his aircraft sales kits designs.
